Land Acquisition:
Harris: Nothing new to report.
Fellers: Nancy Fellers called Judy and said they are interested in selling the Old Farm Lane property and asked her for information on the CPA.
Crary: Nothing new to report.
Open Space Priority List: Judy found the old priority lists the Land Acquisition Committee cam up with. She could not find the assessing criteria we used for rating the properties. We might just come up with our own rating system.
Open Space Management:
Wiley Park Bridge
The variance application appeal was denied because the slope on the ramps was too steep.
Glen has spoken with the Building Inspector, Joe Bianchi, Rich Adelman from the PACE Committee about different design options and came up with a solution that might work. It does still seem to need some ADA variances, but initially there may be some support for the design nonetheless. There is a meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 with members of the PACE, Open Space Committees and the Building Inspector and Joe Bianchi. Katelyn and Judy will plan on attending the meeting.
Signs
Katelyn handed out a lot of information on the different trail markers. The recommendation is to keep it simple and use colors and directional arrows. We can build on it later, it is straightforward, nothing controversial and nothing is permanent. The Green Grant display case is going up next week. We need to think up subject matter for the interpretative signs.
Glen added that we do not have CPA funds yet. Glen has trying to get info from Sheila and Town Counsel as to when the fund money will be available. Apparently we have to write a letter to the CPA Committee and ask them for the funds we were granted at Town Meeting. The CPA Committee should/will sign off on the request, who will send it to the Town Administrator who will send it to the accountant who will write the check.
Mutt Mitt Boxes
The mutt mitt boxes will be ordered with the signs.
Old Business:
Open Position: The position is still open. Discussion ensued with respect to Bob Cook, many committee members thought he put in a volunteer form for the Open Space Committee. Marty said the BOS are going through the appointments to various Committees, but Open Space has not come up yet. Judy will have to resign soon.
Open Space Plan: All corrections and updating has been completed. Jim has worked very hard on promulgating all the required maps. It was a lot of work and it is nearing completion. It should be done in about a month.
New Business
1651 Forest
They met for the first time in a long time. They did vote to do the site walk through Wiley Park.
Conservation Commission
Nothing special to report.
Community Preservation Act Committee
We will be hearing very soon on how to collect the money granted at Town Meeting. We are invited to the CPA’s August meeting to talk about the Town’s Open Space needs.
Next Meeting: August 23, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
Dave moved to adjourn. Glen seconded. APPROVED: unanimously
Adjournment at 8:54 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Laura Freeman
